Older Adults age 60 or older who live in Âé¶¹AV and have been impacted by crimes can get help. The Department for the Aging's (Âé¶¹AV Aging) Crime Prevention and Support Services (C-PASS) can help older adults impacted by crimes, including:
- Burglary
- Robbery
- Physical assaults
- Mail scams and check washing
- Financial scams, fraud, and identity theft
C-Pass was previously known as the Elderly Crime Victims Resource Center.
Âé¶¹AV Aging can assist older adults with a variety of services and supports which can include:
- Application assistance to the NY State Office of Victims Services (OVS), for potential reimbursement of crime-related losses or expenses
- Crisis intervention and safety planning
- Information and assistance with filing financial fraud complaints
- Referrals to mental health support, legal services, and other crime support programs
- Connect with the appropriate police precinct and the NYPD's Older Adult Liaison (OAL)
- Referrals to community based elder abuse support services
